PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate whether a modulated wave is a multicarrier wave. SOLUTION: When a base-band signal extracted from the modulated wave is input (step S21), a time-base waveform of the base-band signal is sampled and a quartic cumulant is computed from the sampling value (step S22). Further, a probability density distribution showing an amplitude distribution of the base-band signal is found and the Kullback-Leibler distance between the probability density distribution and a reference probability density distribution is computed (step S23). When it is decided based upon the computed value of the quartic cumulant that the sampling value is close to a Gaussian distribution (step S24) and when it is decided based upon the computed value of the Kullback-Leibler distance that the found probability density distribution is similar to the reference probability density distribution (step S25), the modulated wave is discriminated as a multicarrier wave (step S26).
