CATHEPSIN E-SPECIFIC INHIBITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substance that specifically inhibits cathepsin E while does not inhibit cathepsin D as a lysosomal enzyme highly analogous to cathepsin E, and a cathepsin E-inhibitor. SOLUTION: The peptide exhibits inhibiting actions on cathepsin E activities while substantially no inhibiting actions on cathepsin D activities, and has the number of amino acids within the range of 6-34. The cathepsin E-inhibitor comprises the peptide as an effective ingredient. These are obtained from a peptide library prepared by a molecule selection operation using an in-vitro-virus method.
