USB CHARGER FOR USE BY COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply which feeds a direct current (DC) voltage to a power supply for passengers, especially to a portable electric device (PED), in a commercial transportation vehicle.

SOLUTION: An outlet feeds AC and DC voltages to at least one unit and contains an input module for receiving a first voltage input and a second voltage input. The first voltage input is a variable DC voltage and the second voltage input is an alternate current (AC) voltage of desirable voltage and frequency. A converter converts the first input voltage to a constant DC voltage output effective for DC voltage feeding to a PED. The outlet comprises a first receptacle which has a form of a USB port and feeds a DC voltage to a device and a second receptacle which feeds an AC voltage to the device. A sensor circuit is connected to the outlet to check whether the second voltage source feeds the AC voltage safely. An enable feature activates the second receptacle individually, depending on the decision made by the sensor circuit.
