PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus which also enables a stereoscopic image or high-quality panoramic image to be photographed as needed while keeping portability equal to or higher than that of conventional cameras when using the apparatus as a single-lens camera for capturing an ordinary two-dimensional image. SOLUTION: To a first photographing unit 12 that can singly functione as a photographing apparatus, a second photographing unit 14 including a photographing optical system is provided so as to be freely attached and detached by a joint 32 and a connector 30. Furthermore, the second photographing unit 14 is configured to connect other units including the similar connection structure in a sequential extension manner and a slot 22 of an external storage device 26 is utilized for a means for exchanging information between units. Moreover, a means is provided for adjusting a position of a photographed image in photographing units after the second unit relative to an image photographed by the first photographing unit 12, the other units are driven to perform simultaneous photographing or consecutive photographing synchronously with a release signal of the first photographing unit 12.
