PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a geographic information provision server which enables a user to browse various kinds of geographic information at one time and a geographic information system (GIS). SOLUTION: Based on the requested contents from a user PC100, a Web-GIS server 300 retrieves preliminarily prepared metadata and acquires the geographic information from the corresponding geographic information server 500 based on a URL for browse included in the corresponding metadata. Then, the Web-GIS server 300 specifies the range of a map based on the information on latitude and longitude included the acquired geographic information, transmits the same as the range information to the user PC100, converts the acquired geographic information to the GIS data, and transmits the data to the user PC100. In the user PC100, the map data based on the range information is acquired from a map information server 200 and is displayed, and the display based on the received GIS data is performed in superposition on the displayed map.
