A hand machine tool which comprises an inner housing 21 and an outer housing 23 with at least one damping element 34 provided in a gap between the housings 21 and 23, so that they are isolated from one another. The damping element may be one or more annular fluid-filled pads (32, fig. 3) or resilient bodies (31, Figs. 2, 7 and 8) which surround the inner housing 21 and are held in grooves and/or ribs on the housings 21 and 23. Alternatively the damping element may be one or more springs 34, (33, Fig. 4), optionally formed integrally with one of the housings 21 and optionally comprising detent means (53, Fig. 10a) for connection to the other housing 23. Figure 6 shows an embodiment with integral leaf springs 34 where adjustment of a screw 41 alters the preload on the springs 34. Webs (36, Fig. 11) integral to one or both of the housings 21 and 23 may also provide the damping element. Figures 8-11 show tools where damping elements are only provided in a part of the handle which supports part of a user's hand. |
