The hydraulic torque converter may be used in a variety of applications, including a road vehicle. It has a pump wheel, a turbine wheel, a guide wheel, a bridging clutch and a torque sensor, all within a housing. The torque sensor is radially integrated within the bridging clutch. It is installed in the space between the turbine wheel and that part of the housing adjacent to the power supply side.
