<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein for cell adhesion/extension, and to provide a method for cell adhesion/extension using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A composition for cell adhesion and/or extension is provided, comprising the protein, called as adrenal cortex zonal factor-1(AZ-1) or the like, mentioned below: (a) A protein comprising a specific amino acid sequence. (b) A protein comprising an amino acid sequence wherein one or several amino acids is(are) substituted, deleted, inserted or added in the above-mentioned amino acid sequence and having the activity of cell adhesion and/or extension.
