A low IF(Intermediate Frequency) receiver for suppressing an image signal and an image signal suppressing method are provided to maximally suppress that an image signal included in an RF(Radio Frequency) signal is equally demodulated with a real signal, thereby realizing a simple circuit configuration. An LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)(110) amplifies RF signals to generate the amplified RF signals. A quadrature I/Q mixer(120) down-converts the amplified RF signals into IF signals to generate I and Q signals. A phase and gain control block(150), which consists of a phase and gain control circuit and a control signal generating circuit, generates I' and Q' signals which change amplitude and phases of the I and Q signals by using a real signal(Rs). A signal complex filter(130) filters the I' and Q' signals to minimize an image signal of the real signal(Rs) and the image signal included in the IF signals, and passes the real signal(Rs) as it is.
