A method for providing optimized multimedia services to user terminals and a system for implementing the method are provided to process multimedia data desired by a client in real time, and transmit the processed multimedia data to the client so as to provide a multimedia service to multiple clients rapidly and simultaneously. A system(200) for providing an optimized multimedia service processed in real time to a user terminal(100) through a communication network(150) includes a multimedia file database(250), a service controller(220), and an optimum image converter(230). The multimedia file database stores at least one single picture quality multimedia file and attribute information of each file. The service controller determines whether it is required to convert data based on the attribute information and user terminal information and sets a conversion standard of a corresponding multimedia file. The optimum image converter reads the corresponding multimedia file from the multimedia file database, converts the multimedia file according to the conversion standard transmitted from the service controller, and transmits the converted multimedia file to the user terminal. |
