SLIDER EMPLOYING VERTICAL MICRO-ACTUATOR, AND HEAD GIMBAL ASSEMBLY AND HARD DISK DRIVE HAVING THE SAME

A slider with a vertical micro-actuator, a head gimbal assembly and a hard disc drive having the same are provided to control a vertical position of a read-write head adequately. A slider comprises a deformation section(97) and a vertical micro-actuator(98). The deformation section includes a read-write head(94) to access data on a surface of a disc. The vertical micro-actuator is positioned vertically on an air bearing surface, including a shape memory alloy film(98F) connected to the deformation section. A vertical position(Vp) of the read-write head for the surface of the disc is changed as the deformation section is deformed by change of the shape memory alloy film into first and second solid shapes according to temperature. A head gimbal assembly having the slider includes a flexure finger and a micro-actuator assembly additionally. The flexure finger is connected to the slider. The micro-actuator assembly is combined with the slider and the flexure finger to position the read-write head to access data on the surface of the disc.
