METHOD AND APPRATUS FOR CONTROLLING OF MENU - ICON

A method and an apparatus for controlling menu icons based on a user interface are provided to change positions of user-interface-based menu icons displayed on a touch screen, magnify the size of a selected menu icon and display the magnified menu icon. An apparatus for controlling menu icons based on a user interface includes a plurality of menu icons, an information selecting/displaying unit, a size/position mode setting and processing unit(16), and a controller(14). The information selecting/displaying unit displays a function corresponding to a menu icon touched and selected. The size/position mode setting and processing unit changes the size and/or position of the menu icon. The controller executes the function corresponding to the menu icon when the menu icon is touched, and controls generation of a request for the change of the size and/or position of the menu icon according to the operation of the size/position mode setting and processing unit.
