A door-locking system for a door which is to be opened counter to a driving direction of a motor vehicle takes into account a speed signal from the motor vehicle. In order to increase passive safety, an engine of the motor vehicle can only be started when the door is open if a gearbox of the motor vehicle is in neutral and a brake of the motor vehicle is applied.
