PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hub unit having bearing rigidity corresponding to a travelling condition without the need for complicated electrical construction. SOLUTION: The hub unit 1 comprises an outer ring 5b, a hub wheel 4 having a hub body 4b and a wheel mounting flange 4a, an inner ring 5a, and a rolling element train 5d. Herein, a preload adjusting mechanism 50 is provided for adjusting an axial preload amount to be imparted to the inner ring 5a by a preload imparting member 51 depending on centrifugal force detected by a centrifugal force detecting mechanism 54.
