PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compose a thin type and lightweight holding device having a high holding force for providing the lightweight holding device having a short distance from a robot in the holding device which is mounted on an industrial robot and used for supplying and discharging a workpiece in an assembling work or a machine tool. SOLUTION: In the holding device, a pair of cylinder holes juxtaposed in parallel in a rectangular body, two pairs of pistons which are disposed in the cylinder holes and provided in respective cylinders in the opposed direction, a pair of holding members which are openly/closely driven to the opposed direction by the respective pistons in the cylinders, and a guide part for guiding the holding member, are disposed at the center of a pair of the cylinders, and the holding member and the piston at both ends are connected.
