PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indexing apparatus which allows quick startup of a production line and enhances the flexibility of a design. SOLUTION: The indexing apparatus is provided with: a turret main body 11, a motor 15 to drive and rotate the turret main body 11; an absolute encoder 16 to output absolute angle data of the turret main body 11; and a converting device 20 to take in the absolute angle data, to index them in a desired index number, and to output conversion output TA. The absolute encoder 16 is a separate one from the converting device 20.
