The adjacent surfaces of valve head and valve bore (14') between which the fluid flows are configured to define an interface angle, when the valve head is displaced from a valve seat. The interface angle is defined between the longitudinal axis and interface line (36) intersecting a point on the valve head surface and a point of the valve bore surface, so that the interface angle increases as the valve head is increasingly displaced from the valve seat.
