PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system for a gas burning appliance capable of confirming more detailed data, improving the accuracy in abnormality determination, and expanding the diagnosis range, while suppressing increase in the cost accompanying communication data regarding the operating state, or line occupation time. SOLUTION: A remote monitoring system 1 of a gas engine 3 has a remote monitoring terminal 4 and a remote monitoring center 5. The remote monitoring terminal 4 collects operation data D1 for each period T1 and sequentially stores in a temporary memory 41, calculates statistical processing data D2 by performing statistical processings on the operation data D1 for each period T2 and sequentially stores in a normal memory 42, and erases the operation data D1 subjected to statistical processing. The remote monitoring center 5 collects the statistically processed data D2 for each period T3 starting from the remote monitoring terminal 4 via a public line 10. The statistically processed data D2 are obtained by calculating the basic statistical amount, containing at least the average value and the variance value based on the operation data D1.
