IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate wasteful printing occurring in a device for automatically selecting the type of sheet to be printed.

SOLUTION: When the type of sheet is not selected by a sheet type selection means, the type of sheet associated with a setting selected by a setting selection means is selected. A sheet storage means associated with the selected type of sheet (a) determines the use of the sheet when it can supply the sheet and (b) determines the use of the sheet supplied by a predetermined sheet storage means when it cannot supply the sheet. Consequently, the operability can be improved and the wasteful printing can be prevented from occurring.
