PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motion guide obtaining desired characteristics, and a measuring apparatus equipped with this. SOLUTION: A linear motion guide 20 comprises: a guide rail 1 which is extended linearly and has a sliding face 4; a slider 2 which is arranged in the guide rail 1 so that it can be relatively moved along the guide rail 1, and has a sliding face 5; and a magnetic fluid 3 interposed between the sliding face 4 of the guide rail 1 and the sliding face 5 of the slider 2. A plurality of magnetic poles are formed in the sliding face 5 of the slider 2, and the sliding face 4 of the guide rail 1 is formed with a nonmagnetic material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
