PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase cycling method and a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of obtaining an image by the phase cycling method in the same period of time as when the phase cycling method is not used. SOLUTION: In the phase cycling method, the phase cycling is performed with different quantities of increase/decrease of the phase ofα°pulse (i.e. RF transmission phase) when data are collected in a positive low-frequency region and in a negative low-frequency region on a k-space. The quantity of increase/decrease of the RF transmission phase when the data collection is started is different from the quantity when the data collection is terminated. The quantity of the difference varies from zero to a prescribed value. The prescribed value is set at such a level that the quantity of increase/decrease of the RF transmission phase gradually varies to keep the pseudo steady state.
