PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording tape cartridge for preventing a release member provided in a hub from rattling in the hub in a manufacturing line. SOLUTION: In the recording tape cartridge 10, a reel 20 is stored in a case 12 rotatably, where the reel 20 has the cylindrical hub 22 for winding a recording tape T, a first flange 24 provided at one edge side of the hub 22, and a second flange 26 provided at the other edge side of the hub 22. The reel 20 is pushed up by a drive gear 102 of a drive unit, so that the release member 90 for permitting the rotation of the reel 20 is provided by pushing up a braking member 80. In the recording tape cartridge 10, a diameter (R) in a circumscribed circle in the release member 90 is made larger than an inner diameter (r) in the hub 22 when viewed from the direction of the rotary axis of the reel 20, and a recess 28 for permitting the release member 90 to travel is formed on the inner-periphery surface of the hub 22 without covering the overall height of the hub 22.
