PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce record/reproduction processing time by effectively storing distributed data in alternate blocks when making alternate recording by sector units. SOLUTION: When recording data by sector units on an optical disk, a block A to which the recording sector belongs is reproduced to check whether normally reproduced or not. When not reproduced normally, the reproduced block A is regarded as a defective area, and the data are recorded in alternative areas 12 by sector units. As a result of alternate recording, the sectors to be in the same block are often distributed over other blocks D and E. In this case, when new data are recorded to a new sector, data are acquired from those distributed sectors and recorded in the same block E together with the new data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
