PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scorch retarder, in order to improve scorch resistance and crosslinking density without adverse influence on the crosslinking time, which inhibits too early crosslinking (scorch) before the crosslinking of a thermoplastic composition and/or an elastomer composition with a peroxide or an azo compound, and to provide a crosslinkable composition and the crosslinking method. SOLUTION: A scorch-delaying composition comprises a nitroxide and a promoter selected from the group (P) consisting of compounds containing at least a double bond and being bifunctional or polyfunctional.
