A refrigerator equipped with a humidifier is provided to maintain freshness of vegetable stored in a vegetable compartment by supplying atomized water obtained from a defrost process without applying heat to the water. A refrigerator having a humidifier is characterized by having a container(20) for collecting water, a vegetable compartment(30) where vegetables are stored, a passageway(52) through where cold air is supplied to the vegetable compartment, a capillary tube(40) which is submerged one end to water in the container and the other end in the passageway to mix the collected water in the container with cold air in the passage way. A humidity sensor(31) for sensing humidity in the vegetable compartment is installed to close or to open a shut-off valve corresponding to the sensed humidity. A level sensor(21) is installed to the container to check the level of water in the container and to open a valve(22) in an external water supply line(23) to supply water to the container when water level is below the desired level. The passageway has an orifice where cross-sectional area is constricted. |
