A power supply device is provided to prevent an IC(Integrated Circuit) from being damaged by disconnecting the IC from a source voltage when an abnormal voltage rise is detected. A power supply device includes a switching PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) IC(20), a voltage rise detecting module(30), and an IC protecting module(40). The switching PWM IC includes embedded FETs, receives a driving voltage from a transformer, and performs a PWM modulation on the received signal to convert the signal to a PWM signal. The voltage rise detecting module drives an LED, when an output voltage from a secondary coil of the transformer is higher than a specific threshold voltage. When a photo transistor is driven in a photo coupler, the IC protecting module supplies the converted voltage to a ground potential, so that the FET(Field Effect Transistor) is turned off.
