<p>a -Amino-arylmethylpenicillins may be prepared by contacting an acid addition salt of an a -aminoarylacetyl halide in a non-aqueous liquid organic solvent medium either with 6-amine-penicillanic acid and a tertiary amine or with a tertiary amine salt of 6-aminopenicillanic acid. Examples are directed mainly to the production of D(-)- and DL-a -amino-benzylpenicillin. D(-)- and DL-2-phenylglycylchloride hydrochloride may be prepared from D(-)-and DL-phenylglycine respectively by reaction with phosphorus pentachloride. Specification 873,049 is referred to.</p> |
