A rectilinear-motion bearing adapted to be disposed between two surfaces, one of which is linearly movable with respect to the other, e.g. a machine tool carriage 24 and bed 25, comprises an oval raceway 20 secured to the carriage 24 and having a number of rollers 22 therein which engage the bed 25; alternatively, the raceway is secured to the bed 25 with the rollers 22 engaging the carriage 24. Each roller has an annular recess 23, and the raceway 20 consists of a rectangularly-shaped body 11 and end portions 16, the body 11 having a recess 12 which receives the rollers and a bearing-face 13 with a shoulder 15 which guides them. The end portions each have a channel 17 enclosed by a cover 18 held by screws 19. The rollers are retained in the raceway by the covers 18 and by members 21 engaging the recessed portion 23 of the rollers.
