Error frames in a pulse coded modulation (PCM) data containing several frames of audio content, are detected, e.g. using block codes. The output volume of the PCM data is controlled to be inversely proportional to the number of error frames. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) volume control apparatus; (2) computer readable medium storing instructions for executing volume control method; (3) wireless signal volume control method; and (4) wired signal volume control method.
