A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to reduce a leakage current between external electrodes and a common electrode by enabling a support side to be formed from a nonconductive substance for electrical shielding effect, thereby improving quality by reducing power consumption and reducing malfunction and a cause for a failure. An LCD includes an LCD panel, at least one light emitting lamp, a support side, and a common electrode(13). The at least one light emitting lamp has external electrodes in both ends of the light emitting lamp to supply light to the LCD panel. The support side has a hole(11) where the light emitting lamp is inserted. The common electrode is formed in the hole where the light emitting lamp is inserted in the support side. The support side is formed from a nonconductive substance. |
