A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to maintain an effective value for representing brightness by dividing one of RGB pixels into first and second sub-pixels having different polarities and the same brightness. A liquid crystal display device includes an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(230), a gate driver(220) and a data driver(210). Pixels, which are defined by gate and data lines, are arranged in a matrix formation on the LCD panel. The gate driver supplies a gate voltage to the LCD panel. The data driver supplies a data voltage to the LCD panel. The respective pixels include first and second LCD cells, which are independently driven according to driving voltages with different polarities to represent the same brightness.
