The method involves adding a polysaccharide composition to the residual water for separating the decontaminated water. The composition has an aqueous extract of polysaccharide plant matrix, such as phanerogam plant having 4 percent of its dry weight as polysaccharide matrix. The algae has 9 percent of its dry weight as polysaccharide matrix, where aqueous extracts of algae, particularly extracts of red algae (Rhodophyta), green algae (Chlorophyta) and brown algae (Phaeophyta), are used. An independent claim is also included for a method for preparing plant extracts.
