摘要 A backlight module of an LCD is provided to form saw-like grooves on the edge of a light guiding plate and install LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes) into the grooves of the light guiding plate to improve the energy efficiency, achieve the structural stabilization, and reduce the size of a display panel. A light source(110) consists of one or more white LEDs or red, green, and blue LEDs. Saw-like grooves(131) are formed on the edge of a light guiding plate(130). The LEDs are inserted into the saw-like grooves of the light guiding plate so that the light guiding plate disperses light of a backlight unit. A diffusing plate(150) uniformly diffuses the light passed through the light guiding plate. A prism(170) induces the light from the diffusing plate to the inside of an image forming region of an LCD panel. The saw-like grooves are formed on one lateral surface or both lateral surfaces of the light guiding plate. Holes(133) are respectively formed in insides of the saw-like grooves. Lead lines(111) of the LEDs are inserted into the holes of the grooves, and electrically connected to lead lines of neighboring LEDs.
