Liquid disinfectant composition (I) comprises at least a phenol compound (0.5-40 wt.%) and at least an organic base (at least 1.5 wt.%), where the organic base is present in an stoichiometric excess with respect to the acidic group of the phenol compound, and (I) exhibits a pH value of greater than 7. An independent claim is included for an aqueous disinfectant composition (II) obtained by the addition of water in (I), where the amount of water added is up to reach the concentration of phenol for 0.2-2 wt.%. ACTIVITY : Antimicrobial. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
