A laminate material (20) for lighter-than-air vehicles (10) includes a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer (26) , a polyimide layer (30) secured to the liquid crystal polymer fiber layer (20); and a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) layer (34) secured to the polyimide layer (30). The layers are secured to one another with a polyurethane adhesive (28), (32). Adjacent laminates may be secured to one another by a PVDF cover tape (44) on the exterior surfaces and a structural tape (46) on the interior surfaces. The structural tape (46) includes a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer (50) and a polyimide layer (54) to ensure the integrity of the vehicle. An alternative material may include a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer (62) and a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) layer (64), (66) disposed on both sides of liquid crystal polymer fiber layer (62).
