PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device for reducing deterioration in an insertion loss and realizing downsizing, and communication equipment using the same. SOLUTION: First and second surface acoustic wave resonator sections 20, 21 connected to each other with a center common bus bar electrode 25 are formed symmetrically with respect to the center common bus bar electrode 25 at both sides of the center common bus bar electrode 25 in a surface acoustic wave element of the surface acoustic wave device is formed extended in a propagation direction of the surface acoustic wave, an unbalanced signal terminal is connected to the center common bus bar electrode 25, and first and second section surface acoustic wave resonator sections 18, 19 are arranged side by side in a direction orthogonal to the propagation direction at both sides of the surface acoustic wave element and connected in parallel with bus bar electrodes of IDT electrodes of first and second surface acoustic wave resonator sections 20, 21 and connected to balanced signal terminals 23, 24.
