A compact, inexpensive and highly reliable water treatment apparatus exhibiting high water treatment effects through synergism of chemical and physical actions without requiring equipment for supplying air or oxygen gas. The water treatment apparatus performs treatment by applying a high voltage to an electrode (5) provided in the conduit (13) for conducting water (6) to be treated and comprises a cavitation bubble generating nozzle (12) provided in the vicinity of the prestage of the electrode (5) while having an orifice in the water conduction conduit (13) in order to generate bubbles by cavitation in the water (6) at the post-stage of the most contracted portion, and a booster pump (11) for feeding the water (6) at a predetermined pressure to the prestage of the cavitation bubble generating nozzle (12).
