PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a filter causes an increase in temperature rise of a coil of a rotary electric machine and an iron core and regular cleaning and replacement of the filter causes a maintenance cost, while the filter is attached to remove fine particles in an air intake port if hard particles are included in air to be taken. SOLUTION: In the open type rotary electric machine, an abrasion resistive material is arranged on the surface of a portion other than a slot of a coil to prevent surface abrasion of the portion other than the coil slot. With this configuration, even if a filter is not attached, the abrasion of the surface of the portion other than the slot can be prevented while a temperature rise value is maintained the same.
