PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device for communicating in different data formats. SOLUTION: The communication device is provided with a communication part 3 for communicating with other device through a public line, LAN, infrared communication, a resource information storage part 5 for storing which format of data the device can handle, a storage part 6 for storing data for communicating, a data conversion part 7 for converting data so that a communication counterpart can interpret, a conversion table 8 for storing whether the data presently maintained can be converted into a form the communication counterpart can interpret, a conversion means housing part 9 for storing an actual conversion means, and a negotiation part 10 for learning how resource information of a counterpart device is.
