<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that can prevent unwanted light being incident on a photodetector and that can detect accurate signal. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with an optical path converting means 12 for converting a predetermined optical path in which unwanted light A1, A2 pass to an optical path that is different, from the optical path on the optical path between a light source 21 and an objective lens 16. The optical path converting means 12 is provided with a plate body 32 in which an opening part 31 in which a laser beam emitted from the light source 21 is passed is formed, an opening wall 33 of the opening part 31 in the plate body 32 includes a tapered part 35, formed in a tapered shape which is tilted so that the laser beam approaches the optical axis L1 of the light source 21, proceeding forward in the outgoing direction.
