PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the skew of sheet without reversely feeding the sheet. SOLUTION: This skew correcting device corrects the skew of the sheet when the sheet fed thereto is oblique. The skew correcting device comprises a skew correction member 1 brought into contact with the end of the sheet crossing to the conveying direction and allowed to move and a pair of downstream conveying rollers 5 for holding and conveying the sheet while rotating. Since the skew of the sheet is corrected by bringing the skew correction member 1 into contact with the end of the sheet being conveyed in the conveying direction by the pair of downstream conveying rollers 5 while moving in the conveying direction, the sheet does not need to be reversely conveyed.
