PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent color smearing due to inclination or curving, etc., in a scanning beam exposing an image carrier and to obtain low cost. SOLUTION: A color image forming apparatus is provided with; a gradation correction control means controlling a buffer means storing data based on the data generated by an address control means and also controlling the gradation correction means carrying out gradation correction based on exposure shifted amount information stored to an exposure shifted amount storing means and an output means outputting pixel data obtained by the gradation correction means as exposure control signal for an exposure part of a corresponding image forming part. The problem is solved by having an optical beam obtained based on the outputted image data by the gradation correction means respectively exposed on each photoreceptor by each exposure means for each image station.
