PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a functional fabric that, for subjecting it to a treatment of separating its edge part, sacrificed yarn part is knitted with yarn made by covering polyurethane elastic yarn with water-soluble Vinylon yarn(polyvinyl alcohol-based yarn) followed by dissolving and removing the water-soluble Vinylon yarn, and in making a separation along the sacrificed yarn part, any cutting tool or the like is not needed, to provide a fabric subjected to the edge treatment, and to provide respective methods for producing them. SOLUTION: The functional fabric is such as to be cylindrically knitted by a circular knitting machine consecutively in the order of sacrificed yarn part 1, stretch narrow part 2 and the main fabric 3, wherein the sacrificed yarn part 1 is knitted with yarn made by covering polyurethane elastic yarn with water-soluble vinylon yarn followed by dissolving and removing the water-soluble vinylon yarn. The fabric subjected to the edge treatment and composed of the main fabric 3 and the stretch narrow part 2 is produced by making a separation along the sacrificed yarn part of the functional fabric.
