PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify an overdrive circuit relating to techniques of contributing to simplification of an overdrive configuration. SOLUTION: Image data are compared with brightness information data in the last frame by using a lookup table; a gradation voltage is supplied to each pixel in a preselection period based on response compensation data resulting in acceleration of the response of a liquid crystal; and a gradation voltage based on the image data is supplied to each pixel in the main selection period after a correction period shorter than one frame period.
