PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective modifying means of an amine-modified epoxy resin by a polyhydric phenol, and an aqueous coating having sufficient anti-corrosive effect by the polyhydric phenol compound, especially a cation electrodeposition coating. SOLUTION: This resin for aqueous coating having 1,000 to 5,000 number-average molecular weight is obtained by reacting (a) a diglycidyl ether type epoxy resin expressed by formula (a) and having a multiple number of oxazolidone rings in its molecular chain, (b) a monovalent active hydrogen compound, (c) a divalent active hydrogen compound, (d) gallic acid and (e) a secondary monoamine compound.
