AMINOSTEROL COMPOUNDS USEFUL AS INHIBITORS OF THE SODIUM/PROTON EXCHANGER (NHE), PHARMACEUTICAL METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS EMPLOYING SUCH INHIBITORS, AND PROCESSES FOR EVALUATING THE NHE-INHIBITORY EFFICACY OF COMPOUNDS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide specific inhibitors of sodium/proton exchanger (NHE), and to provide NHE inhibitors for various therapeutic uses. SOLUTION: New isolated or synthesized aminosterol compounds such as compound FX1A, compound FX1B, compound 1360, compound 1361, compound 371, compound 1437, and compound 353 or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, are useful as NHE inhibitors. These steroid compounds include found inhibitors for inhibiting various NHEs and found inhibitors for advantageously inhibiting specific single NHEs, respectively.
