A gas burner comprises a supply manifold 1 with discharge nozzles 6 in its upper surface, at least one pair of parallel walls 12, 14 spaced above the manifold to provide a mixing chamber 15 in alignment with the nozzles and means for adjusting the spacing 22 between the chamber 15 and the manifold 1. The inner wall 12 is formed by a cup-like member 8 having a plurality of air openings 11 in its base and an outwardly flared upper edge 13. The outer wall 14 is formed by a cylinder and has outwardly flared lower and upper edges 16, 17. The two upper edges 13, 17 form a discharge port 18 which can be varied by means of bolts 20 passing through vertical slots 19 in the outer wall 14 into the inner wall 12 and supporting spacers 21 between the two walls. The member 8 is adjustably located relative to the manifold 1 by means of a securing bolt 10 and bolts 9, which are lockably threaded through the base of the member 8 and abut the manifold 1. The latter has a series of holes 4 into which are threaded the nozzles 6. A corrugated member may be disposed in the mixing chamber 15 to form a series of vertical passages which are aligned with the nozzles 6 by means of a phirality of tubes secured to the manifold 1 and extending up into the corrugations. A modification comprises a straight gas manifold with two rows of discharge nozzles and four vertical plates disposed above the nozzles to form two mixing chambers flared outwardly at their upper ends. A corrugated member may also be incorporated between each pair of plates.</p> |
