A multiple speed power transmission, e.g. dual clutch transmission, includes an input 10, first and second input shafts 14 and 12, first and second clutches 20 and 16 for releasably coupling the input 10 to the input shafts 14, 12 and a set of selectable power paths connecting the first and second input shafts 14, 12 to an output 11. At least one of the power paths includes both the first and second input shafts 14, 12 and a first layshaft 44. In this power path input 10 is connected to second input shaft 12 and gear 40 by second clutch 16. Gear 40 drives pinion 42, which is connected to the first layshaft 44 through a coupler 62. Gear 26, secured to the first layshaft 44, drives pinion 24 and first input shaft 14. Coupler 60 connects the first input shaft 14 and pinion 30, which drives gear 34, second layshaft 36, output pinion 58, output gear 59 and output 11. |
