An apparatus for purifying polluted air is provided to have a structure suitable for household goods while maintaining treatment performance of the polluted air and harmless characteristic, and reduce the content of ozone contained in the air. An air suction port(107) is installed at an outside of a cylinder-shaped housing(122). One or more bag filters(101) are connected to the air suction port, and housed within the housing. A cylinder-shaped photochemical catalyst oxidation unit(106) has an upper portion connected to the bag filters through a pipeline(105) and a lower portion for downwardly exhausting air, which is supplied from the bag filters through the pipeline. A post-treatment unit(109) is positioned at insides of the bag filters, wherein the post-treatment unit is defined by a space between the photochemical catalyst oxidation unit and a case(116) outside the photochemical catalyst oxidation unit. The post-treatment unit upwardly exhausts the air, which is exhausted to the lower portion of the photochemical catalyst oxidation unit, through the space. An air exhausting fan(114) is positioned above the post-treatment unit within the housing. An air outlet is connected to a rear end of the air exhausting fan to exhaust the air to an outside of the housing. The photochemical catalyst oxidation unit includes one or more plates coated with TiO2, or one or more UV lamps.
