An apparatus for operating a heating source of a cooker is provided to reduce a size of a printed circuit board and manufacturing costs by providing a driving unit of an oval and dual type heater using two or more coils. A heating source includes a main heating source and a plurality of sub-heating sources connected in parallel to each other. The sub-heating sources are connected to the main heating source. An inverter circuit supplies driving power to the main heating source and the sub-heating sources of the heating source. A load switching unit(50) switches selectively the sub-heating sources in order to control a connecting state between the main heating source and the sub-heating sources. A micom(60) selects one or more sub-heating sources from the sub-heating sources according to an external command, and controls the inverter circuit and the load switching unit in order to operate the selected sub-heating source and the main heating source. |
